BOOK WEEK 2016

The children and teachers have spent a wonderful week enjoying the fun filled activities for Book Week 2016. The members of staff involved with the English PLC, have been busy for weeks planning and organising Book Week. It has been extremely successful -all the classes are inspired to read.

We began the week with a ‘Teachers Swap’, where classes were met by a different teacher who read them an exciting story or chapter of a book chosen by the class.

Tuesday was ‘Book Swap Day’! Children were encouraged to bring in a book from home that they had already read and to swap it for another book brought in by someone in their class. It was lovely to see so many books brought in.

Wednesday was the day of the Golden Ticket. Each class waited excitedly for their library session, where an array of new, interesting and engaging books were laid out for each class to sit, on bean bags and comfy chairs, and enjoy the stories. One child from each class was lucky enough to find a Golden Ticket hidden inside one book – to be entered into the Friday draw to win a prize

The Wat’s Dyke school councillor’s had the amazing opportunity to visit the Mayor’s Parlour on Tuesday 24th February 2015. The Mayor kindly invited all the school council representitives to ask questions about his role as the Mayor and to get an insight as to what the job might entail. Tallulah, the chairperon of the school council said, ‘ Being the Mayor would be a fun job. I thought they would have to sit at a desk all day, but the Mayor gets to visit lots of places and meet new people.’
