Dosbarth Blodyn Haul 2017!

Please Note: We will be sharing the majority of class work, photos and class / department information via SeeSaw – The SeeSaw QR codes will be handed out on Friday 8th September 2017. 

Welcome back to a brand new school year! We hope that you have had a fantastic summer break and you are excited about the term ahead!

This term YOU will get to choose the topic! How exciting! You will be working with your class and all of the other Upper Foundation classes to create a topic that you are in control of!  You will be choosing the activities you want to take part in and you will work individually, in pairs and as part of a team to complete different tasks. This is a very exciting time and we know you will love sharing your ideas and getting involved. 

We will let your parents and carers know what the topic is when you have chosen it! We will be putting lots of photos of you working, completing tasks and the work you produce on your class Seesaw account…keep an eye out parents! (SeeSaw QR Codes will be handed out on Friday 8th Sept’ 2017)

During this term you will also be learning about:

*The Golden Principles of our school

*Belonging

*Your different emotions

PE Days :

Mrs Randles  (Year 2): Our PE sessions will take place on a Wednesday and Thursday.

Mrs Roberts (Year 1&2): Our PE sessions will take place on a Wednesday and Friday. 

Mrs pearson and Mrs Jishi (year 1): Our PE sessions will take place on a Monday and Tuesday.

Please ensure that your child has the correct PE kit – Black shorts, white t-shirt and indoor pumps. Thank you! Please send the PE kits in to school at the start of every half term. We will keep the kits in school and return them at the end of each half term.

Summer Term

Welcome back to a brand new term! We hope that you have had an enjoyable and restful Easter holidays and are excited about the term ahead.

This term our topic is ‘Our Wonderful World’. You will have opportunities to share your ideas and plan our new topic in class over the coming weeks. 

Please feel free to bring in any stories or information books related to our topic to share with your friends in school! 

We are looking forward to a very busy term with lots of special events such as International day and Sports Day! Year one will also be finishing off their Kerb craft sessions this half term.

We have had the most amazing day celebrating the wide range of talents across our school. We have thoroughly enjoying singing, dancing and having fun! We love Wales and have done the country proud today!

Well done to everyone who took part in the craft, dance, baking, recitation and handwriting competitions…you all earned points for your house!

We have had a wonderful St David’s Day in Dosbarth Blodyn Haul! We have learnt all about the story of St David and found out some really interesting facts too!

We have all been really lucky to sample bara brith and has a Welsh cake for snack too! (Made especially for us by Mrs Hopkins) …They were DELICIOUS!

We have made wonderful Daffodils which we are going to wear with pride during our school Eisteddfod next week. Some of us have made St David’s Day cards too…What a busy day!

Please ensure your child has their P.E kit in school each week. We will send kits home to be washed at the end of each half term. 

We need your help!

Kerbcraft will begin on 27th February 2017 for the Year One children. For these exciting road safety sessions to go ahead we need your help! If you are able to spare a couple of hours every week (from 27th February) please let your child’s class teacher know as soon as possible. The team are very friendly and would welcome any parent, grandparent etc who has some time to spare. Thank you for your support. 

Eisteddfod Celebrations 2017

We are looking forward to learning more about Wales by participating in our Eisteddfod competitions and preparing for our whole school celebrations. 

Your child will be learning a poem to recite during our Eisteddfod. We will post the poem on our class page and send a copy home nearer the time.

Wat’s Dyke School Enterprise Week 2016!

We had such a fantastic time planning, making and selling our ‘Grow Your Own Flower Kits’. We made 30 kits and sold them all for £1.50. Our products sold out in less than ten minutes…we need to make more next time!

This term our topic is ‘The Lighthouse Keeper’

You will all have the opportunity to share ideas and plan activities that you would like to do in school based on this topic. 

Please feel free to bring in ‘Lighthouse Keeper’ stories or fact books about seaside locations, lighthouses, sea creatures etc.

This term we will also be:

-Planning and going on an exciting school visit – details to be announced.

-Holding our annual sports day.

-Celebrating Eco week.

-Celebrating Enterprise week.

-Continuing with our Digital Leader ICT work.

-Year One children will continue to work with the Kerbcraft team to develop their road safety awareness.

 

Happy Saint David’s Day 2016!

Take a look at some of our pictures from our Saint David’s Day. We all really enjoyed the whole school service in the morning and learnt a lot about Saint David and the meaning behind the welsh emblems – the leek and the daffodil. We sang the National Anthem with such gusto, Mrs Roberts was very proud!

We made daffodils with Mrs Williams and Mrs Hall. We are going to wear them with pride in the Eisteddfod on Friday!

We learnt lots of facts about Wales! We chose which facts we wanted to write down and we drew pictures too!

We used the guide sheets to draw Saint David, the Welsh dragon and a daffodil. We also made our own Welsh flags!
