Dosbarth Rhosyn 2017!

Please Note: We will be sharing the majority of class work, photos and class / department information via SeeSaw – The SeeSaw QR codes will be handed out on Friday 8th September 2017. 

Welcome back to a brand new school year! We hope that you have had a fantastic summer break and you are excited about the term ahead!

This term YOU will get to choose the topic! How exciting! You will be working with your class and all of the other Upper Foundation classes to create a topic that you are in control of!  You will be choosing the activities you want to take part in and you will work individually, in pairs and as part of a team to complete different tasks. This is a very exciting time and we know you will love sharing your ideas and getting involved. 

We will let your parents and carers know what the topic is when you have chosen it! We will be putting lots of photos of you working, completing tasks and the work you produce on your class Seesaw account…keep an eye out parents! (SeeSaw QR Codes will be handed out on Friday 8th Sept’ 2017)

During this term you will also be learning about:

*The Golden Principles of our school

*Belonging

*Your different emotions

PE Days :

Mrs Randles  (Year 2): Our PE sessions will take place on a Wednesday and Thursday.

Mrs Roberts (Year 1&2): Our PE sessions will take place on a Wednesday and Friday. 

Mrs pearson and Mrs Jishi (year 1): Our PE sessions will take place on a Monday and Tuesday.

Please ensure that your child has the correct PE kit – Black shorts, white t-shirt and indoor pumps. Thank you! Please send the PE kits in to school at the start of every half term. We will keep the kits in school and return them at the end of each half term.

International Day 2017

This week we celebrated Africa in Upper Foundation Phase! We learned lots of interesting facts and we took part in three different African activities! We tasted African foods like cous cous, fig rolls and fruit dipped in honey and we created an African sunset picture! Book Day

Today we have had lots of fun celebrating Book Day in school. We all came to school dressed as our favourite book characters, we met a real life author Ceci Jenkinson, we visited our brand new library and we even had a book quiz! Throughout the day we did many ‘drop everything and read’ sessions and we shared lots of stories! During story time the teachers all swapped classes and Mrs Pearson came to read us a story! What a busy busy day! IMG_0250We are very proud of Toby Mathews for winning the best dressed competition for Upper Foundation Phase, well done Toby, what a super crocodile you were!

Summer Term

Welcome back to a brand new term! We hope that you have had an enjoyable and restful Easter holidays and are excited about the term ahead.

This term our topic is ‘Our Wonderful World’. You will have opportunities to share your ideas and plan our new topic in class over the coming weeks. 

Please feel free to bring in any stories or information books related to our topic to share with your friends in school! 

We are looking forward to a very busy term with lots of special events such as International day and Sports Day! Year one will also be finishing off their Kerb craft sessions this half term.

We all came to school dressed in red today and we had so much fun singing and dancing to the Red Nose Day song! 

Spring walk

We have been on a spring walk this week! We were looking for ideas to use in our poetry work. We saw daffodils, catkins, snowdrops and even a bird’s nest! We listened so carefully as Mrs Hughes explained each sign of spring, then we worked with a talking partner to write down our descriptive ideas! We have been celebrating St David’s day in school by making flags and daffodils, tasting Welsh cakes and bara brith and we have even learnt some Welsh folk dancing! What a busy day!

Look at our beautiful daffodils! We can’t wait to wear them for our school eisteddfod!

Kerbcraft will begin on 27th February 2017 for the Year One children. For these exciting road safety sessions to go ahead we need your help! If you are able to spare a couple of hours every week (from 27th February) please let your child’s class teacher know as soon as possible. The team are very friendly and would welcome any parent, grandparent etc who has some time to spare. Thank you for your support. 

Eisteddfod Celebrations 2017

We are looking forward to learning more about Wales by participating in our Eisteddfod competitions and preparing for our whole school celebrations. 

Your child will be learning a poem to recite during our Eisteddfod. We will post the poem on our class page and send a copy home nearer the time.

This term our topic is ‘The Lighthouse Keeper’

You will all have the opportunity to share ideas and plan activities that you would like to do in school based on this topic. 

Please feel free to bring in ‘Lighthouse Keeper’ stories or fact books about seaside locations, lighthouses, sea creatures etc.

This term we will also be:

-Planning and going on an exciting school visit – details to be announced.

-Holding our annual sports day.

-Celebrating Eco week.

-Celebrating Enterprise week.

-Continuing with our Digital Leader ICT work.

-Year One children will continue to work with the Kerbcraft team to develop their road safety awareness.

Spring Term 2016
